Scaffold estimating

A simulator shows you the scaffold. It doesn’t tell you what it costs.

Quoting scaffold means pricing a structure that does not exist yet, from drawings of the building it will wrap. The tools in this trade will draw it for you convincingly and then stop — no material list, no parts behind the number. Which leaves the part that decides whether the job makes money exactly where it was: on a pad, in somebody’s head.

40 seconds, with sound. Every figure on screen is illustrative.
  • Your rates, not oursThe rate card is uploaded, not assumed. Hoist rental by capacity, beam charge basis, forklift periods, standby crew, overtime multipliers, consumables — all yours.
  • Your part mapWhat a lift is made of in your yard, with your part numbers. A quote built on somebody else’s bill of materials is a quote for somebody else’s job.
  • The scope is a choiceWhat is being wrapped, to what height, for how long, is entered rather than guessed — and changing it re-prices rather than starts again.
  • The list behind the priceThe quote arrives with the material list under it. A number you cannot take apart is a number you cannot defend when the customer asks.

The material list is the product. Anyone can draw a scaffold; the question a contractor actually has is how many standards, ledgers, transoms and boards leave the yard, and what that costs at their rates. That is the half the incumbent leaves out, and it is the half that decides the margin.
